From your coaches:
We are thrilled to work with our athletes in dance and skill building for MMS’s Dance team. This season, the dancers will work on performance routines, technique skill building in tumbling and stunting, and further developing team building skills. As performance days come along, coaches will let dancers know about upcoming dates. The coaches are very dedicated to fostering an environment that encourages creativity and builds leadership. The dancers are the key to this season's success.

Possible Performances:

School Rallies, MMS tournaments. Home MMS competitions, MMS evening events, Pony Express Days Parade

Absence Allowance: To ensure fairness and accountability, dancers will not be allowed more than 3 unexcused absences before termination from the team. If an individual needs to be excused from practice to keep their academic eligibility, or because of a family emergency, the coaches are happy to accommodate that need. However, any absence without prior communication by a parent/guardian will be considered an unexcused absence. In addition, all athletes must attend practice on time in appropriate attire (see clothing). There will be time after school to change, snack or meet with teachers. After 15 minutes from the start of practice, dancers will be marked 'late' Three 'lates' together are equivalent to an unexcused absence.

Clothing: Dancers are expected to wear moveable clothing, athletic clothes recommended. Clothes with zippers and buttons are not recommended. Bellies, bottoms, and chest should be covered. No jewelry may be worn during practice. Long hair should be kept back. Dancers should wear closed toed athletic shoes appropriate for dance or running. Failure to wear appropriate clothing may result in a dance having to sit out the practice.

Fundraising: Dancers and families are encouraged to assist with raising money for the team to provide for uniforms and equipment. As fundraising events and ideas arise, coaches will discuss with dancers.

Uniforms: Uniforms are undecided, but will be focused on comfortable basics that can be used by both boys and girls for several years like shorts and sport Ts. There may be an optional, minimal, cost for personal items that dancers will keep: shoes, custom shirts, socks, etc. Dancers will be updated as uniforms are discussed and decided. No dancer will be kept from participating in uniform due to cost - the team will work together to provide what is needed for all the dancers.

Donations to the MMS Student Body Dance account are welcome!
