Room 8 is great!

Please allow me to introduce myself. My name is Jenny Knox. This is my 6th year teaching 3rd grade with McKinleyville Union School District. As a seasoned educator with a love of teaching & a passion for lifelong learning, I am excited to be returning to Morris School for the 2018-2019 academic year. I am also eager to get to know you & your child!

Rest assured that students will be left in capable hands. My professional experience is quite extensive. I was issued a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential back in 1997, after completing the Chico-Durham Tri-Placement Program at CSU, Chico. Shortly thereafter, I began my teaching career at Walter White Elementary, a school-wide Title-1 school in the San Joaquin Valley. While there, I taught 1st & 2nd grade on a year-round calendar, working closely with migrant families. During my 8 years of service with Ceres Unified, I was awarded tenure & received NCLB certification as a “Highly Qualified” Teacher.

In July of 2005, my family & I relocated to southwest Missouri. While in the Ozarks, I taught 3rd grade at both Robinson Elementary School & Highlandville Elementary School. Prior to that, I was employed for one semester as a Title 1 Reading Teacher, serving grades K-5. I also taught 4th Grade summer school & worked briefly as an on-call substitute for multiple districts, serving grades K-8.

We returned to California in July of 2009. Prior to working with MUSD I was employed as a Library Tech with Pacific Union, serving grades K-8. Before that I held a temporary position with Eureka City Schools as a Kindergarten Teacher. Before that I was employed part-time as a Library Tech at Lafayette Elementary School, serving grades K-6. For a short time, I stayed busy as an on-call substitute for Blue Lake, McKinleyville, & Pacific Union. I also spent one semester at Zane Middle School, providing after school Language Arts Intervention & Academic Support for grades 7-8.

With that said, 3rd grade is my absolute favorite! I’m looking forward to working with you as a partner in your child’s education. Should you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to email me at jknox@mckusd.org.
