¡Bienvenidos a la clase de español!

Spanish at MMS is a rigorous, academic language course that puts students on a path to become bilingual. Many of our students go on to study Spanish or other languages in high school and beyond. Many of our students use their skills in college, and careers.

6th grade Spanish is an introduction to Spanish. In 6th grade, students begin building vocabulary and verb conjugations. There is an emphasis on speaking. Cultural units in 6th grade include foods, celebrations and customs in Central America.

7th grade Spanish is the equivalent to high school Spanish 1. In 7th grade students will be developing abilities speaking, listening and reading and writing. 7th grade cultural units include art and history of Mexico.

8th grade Spanish is the equivalent to high school Spanish 2. In 8th grade, students continue on their path to becoming bilingual and biliterate. 8th grade cultural units include art and history of Spain. Students who achieve grade level standard will have the option test in to high school Spanish 3.

 A bit about Profe. Wynne
When Profe. Wynne is not at work, she loves to run the middle-distance race, travel around Europe or Latin America and be outside, preferably near the ocean or the mountains with her family. She lived in Guatemala for two years, working in organic agriculture with rural farmers. She got her BS in Environmental Biology at HSU, and worked as a field biologist before she got her teaching credential. She got her MA in Multicultural Education at HSU. She has taught 6th-12th grades and also teaches at HSU in the teacher-preparation programs. She has a partner, twin daughters and a dog named Cielo de Noche-Blackberry-Walnut-Pirate-Flowerhead, or just Noche for short. She feels really lucky to work at MMS with all of its fantastic, dedicated educators.
